Walk in the Footsteps of Shakespeare

There is no better way to understand Shakespeare than to visit the places where his story is told. You will literally walk in the Bard's footsteps, from birth to grave. During this 5 day tour you visit Stratford-upon-Avon and London. In Stratford you will stand in the house, and even the room, in which Shakespeare was born! Visit his schoolroom, the site of his house in Stratford, the place he courted his wife, Anne Hathaway, dine at his daughter's house and visit his grave.  In London we will visit the Globe theatre as well as take a walk around Southwark to the site of the original Rose theatre!

The tour is led by Cassidy Cash, That Shakespeare Girl and Philippa Lacey Brewell of British History Tours and British History with Philippa Lacey Brewell.

    Shakespeare Tour 2019 - Itinerary

    Day One - 16th September
Meet at our designated meeting point near London Victoria Station at 1pm, board our private air-conditioned coach and travel directly to Stratford upon Avon where we will be greeted at the historic, White Swan Hotel. Enjoy some free time to settle in before our evening meal together.

    Day Two - 17th September
We spend the day with our VIP guide exploring Stratford and the places significant to Shakespeare's story: Shakespeare's Birthplace, Schoolroom, New Place and his grave before a private evening tour and dinner at Shakespeare's daughter's magnificent home, Halls Croft.

    Day Three - 18th September

Today we will visit places very familiar to the younger Shakespeare; Mary Arden's Farm and Anne Hathaway's cottage. As a small boy growing up, Shakespeare would have spent time on the farm. It is run as a working farm, echoing the practices and routines which Shakespeare himself would recognise.  At Anne Hathaway's cottage Shakeapeare courted the girl that was to be his wife and mother to his three children.

In the evening we will meet for a 3-course sit down dinner.

    Day Four - 19th September

We head off early on our private air-conditioned coach to London! After checking into our hotel we visit the Globe Theatre with a private guided tour and a demonstration of stage fighting. We will also have chance to explore the area of Bankside, once the entertainment centre of London, away from the strict City of London authorities north of the river!

We will have a lovely sit down meal together in the evening and potentially see a play at the Globe! (Please note that this can not be confirmed until the season is announced in Spring 2019)

    Day Five - 20th September
Our final morning toghether will be an exciting journey by boat to Westminster where we will take a walk past the Houses of Parliament and Downing Street to visit Banqueting House, the last remaining part of Whitehall Palace. We then go on up through Traflaguar Square to the National Portrait Gallery where we visit the first ever portrait in their collection, the one of Shakespeare!

We will return to the hotel where you can pick up your luggage and we say our goodbyes.

What do people say about our tours....

    • John Trubisz, USA

What a ride! The accommodations were luxurious. The meals were fantastic. My interest in the Tudors is that of a dilettante but there is so much more to the tour which you arranged that it simply didn't matter. Anyone who has even a modicum of interest in art, history, architecture, geometry, technological development, gardening, and fun would enjoy the tour you arranged.

      Cordially, John

...a dream come true. The itinerary was out of this world. This is definitely not the last trip with British History Tours and Philippa

    • Kristen Trubisz, USA

One of the most memorable trips of our lives. We could not have done it without the hard work and wonderful organization skills of Philippa and the Tudor expertise of Claire. I cannot recommend British History Tours enough!!!

    • Laurie Mahon, USA

Everything has absolutely exceeded my expectations and I was in complete awe with each aspect the tour provided for the group. This was a fabulous time that any and every history lover must be apart of. It truly is very magical and meaningful.

    • Diane Cassaro, USA

Another happy customer of the Anne Boleyn Experience - the tour was well organized and well structured, and the group was just amazing. This will not be my last trip with Philippa and Claire!

    • Paul Subar, USA

The trip Tina and I took to the UK and Hever Castle was………amazing! You both made the experience incredibly memorable, and it really far exceeded our expectations. Tina is the Tudor scholar in our household, I got this for her “Big” birthday. However, I learned sooo much on this trip, it has ignited my curiosity to learn more.

    • John Trubisz, USA

Words fail me to describe how terrific a job I think you did. This was the sort of experience that produces memories that last far longer than any recollection of expense. Well done!
